It was a beautiful sunny morning when I first met Mark Holiday. He was trying, like countless others, to become a part of Viking legend, throwing stones ‘from a sea into an ocean’. He was on these islands exhibiting his paintings and as a writer of children’s stories, was keen to collect some of the myths, legends, and folk tales of these beautiful isles. I quietly smiled, sat him down with a mug of seaweed soup and I told him a few of my adventures. Several mugs of seaweed soup later and Mark’s tatty old notebook was full to bursting with frantically scribbled accounts of my tales. Gullwick and the Sunset is the first book in a series of my adventures called ‘Gullwick’s Travels’ I hope you have as much fun reading them, as I do, being in them.
